Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana was established in 1970 and managed by Guru Nanak Education Trust (GNET).

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The aim of the college was to provide innovative and personalized academic environment supplemented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities to promote excellence in art, culture, and sports.

It was a woman self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Ludhiana played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Science, Management, and Commerce streams and offers two years of post-graduation in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses.

The college has also a study center for distance education through distance mode under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
