GITAM Institute of Pharmacy, Visakhapatnam was established in 2006. Its affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences.

GITAM School of Pharmacy established in 2006, an elite institution with the state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities, modern laboratories and student support services coupled with dedicated and experienced faculty. The main objective of the School is to provide high quality value based education to generate competent Pharmaceutical Technocrats and Pharmacy professionals.

The School offers a four year B. Pharm. and two year M. Pharm. programs with five core specializations Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, The School is also offering Ph. D. programs in all the above disciplines and also encouraging interdisciplinary research programs. The School ’s core strengths are academic rigor, focus on teaching, close coordination with leading Pharmacy industry, holistic academic culture, individual care to students through Mentor- Mentee monitoring system, world-class academic ambience, campus facilities and commitment for quality education.

The vision of MAHATMA, the Father of the Nation was to see India as a socially and economically resurgent country and he looked upon education as an important means to achieve this goal. Gandhiji’s view of education was not narrow or sectarian. He envisaged universities as institutions of higher learning that transcend all linguistic, racial and other barriers. GITAM is committed to imbibe his values and abide by his philosophy.

GITAM Institute of Pharmacy an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution, is included under the ambit of GITAM University. (Declared as Deemed to be University). “A Commitment to the practice of Pharmacy with ethical values in its highest form is a life long commitment to humanity”.

With this backdrop in mind, the Institute was established in 2006 with an aim to generate competent and committed Pharmaceutical human resources to meet the national and global requirements, to cater to the ongoing changing and challenging needs of the Health care system for effective Pharmaceutical care.
