Gopichand Arya Mahila College, Abohar (Dist. Firozpur) was established in May 1972 and managed by DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi which was established in 1886.

The college was started initial donation of Rs. 2.5 Lacs from Seth Gopichand Ahuja Charitable Trust in May 1972 and named the college as Gopichand Arya Mahila College. Later the academic and financial control came under DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.01 on a 4 Point  Scale in 1st Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

The aim of the college was to prepare our students to face the challenges of life with dignity and confidence, preserving the social ethos, Vedic doctrines, and our cultural heritage.

It is a woman self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Firozpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, and Computer Application streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations for the students. It offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses as well.

Gopichand Arya Mahila College of today can rightfully claim of its achievements at various socio-educational fronts with many "Firsts" to its credit.

Latest being First Institution in Abohar to start with M.A. English.

Apart from above, the various UGC sponsored study centres like Vivekanand study centre, Ambedkar study centre and Women study centre are organized National Seminars which is functioning successfully.
