Government First Grade College, Tarikere (Chikkamagaluru Dist.) was also known as GFGC, Tarikere was established in 2007 by the Government of Karnataka.

It is one of the premier government co-educational colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956.
 
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the students. The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams under Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.
