Government First Grade College, Ajjampura (Chikkamagaluru Dist.) was also known as GFGC Ajjampura was established in 1988 by the Government of Karnataka.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Kuvempu University, Shivamogga and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.10 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 17th March 2016.

Since its inception, the college was started with the only BA, and B.Com programs under the affiliation of Kuvempu University with a meager students’ strength now the college has 537 students of different courses with coeducation.

The college has a vision of providing high-quality education to the rural population to make them self-dependent and skilled national asset. Further, the number of students went on increasing of which majority are from the rural and socioeconomically backward sector of the society.

The institution moved to its own new structure with five technically designed spacious and highly ventilated classrooms, library, Principal’s office, an administrative office and a teaching staff.

The visit of NAAC peer team was a milestone in the history of the college. Then many courses were started along with a computer laboratory and old building procured for the separate library with a reading room, reference section, and partial automation.

At present, the college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, & Mangement streams with various specialization under Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.

• To encourage our students to actively participate in extra- curricular activities, cultural programs, literacy activities & sports
• To equip staff and students with the latest pedagogies to ensure computability

Objectives:

• To conduct various seminars and workshops to cater to the needs of heterogeneous students
• To continue with various government schemes like Edusat, Naipunya Nidhi, Spoken Tutorial successfully for the benefit of students
• To create awareness regarding health, hygiene, environmental and social values
• To keep students updated with current trends of knowledge in their subject
• To create awareness on the use of technology and to utilize available resources to the maximum extent
• To strengthen quality management and administrative system of the college
• To provide service to the rural area through various programs of community services
