Gates Institute of Technology (GIT), Gooty was established in 2001 under the sponsorship of Gajjala Raghunatha Reddy Educational Trust.

The self-financing institute is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Anantapur and it has gained the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
