About Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar
Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar was established in 1942. It is located on 1.75 (14 Kanal) acre campus in Shamwari, Fateh Kadal, Srinagar in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
It is a grant-in-aid college and is run by Hindu Education Society of Kashmir. The College gets grant-in-aid from Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.
The college is affiliated to University of Kashmir, Srinagar and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
The college has worked tirelessly for maintaining proper standard, ensuring optimum utilization of facilities, promoting innovation and change, linking education to emerging career patterns, equalization of educational opportunities for the weaker section of the society, particularly the Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes and those belonging to the educationally backward areas.
The developmental needs of the college have carefully been identified so that the resources are mainly utilized for such programs which can make an appreciable impact on the improvement of standards through modernization and rationalization as well as the diversification of undergraduate courses in humanities and social sciences, sciences, commerce etc. Especially to relate them to career opportunities.
Sufficient opportunities are being made available to the students to choose the course best suited to their interest and capability.
The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams under the University of Kashmir, Srinagar.

- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject.

- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
- The college consists Women Cell to help female students. This cell helps and guides girls to sort out from their personal problem and avoid them from any harassment
- The college magazine ”SANGARMAL” is published annually to provide an opportunity to the young students of the college having aptitude in creative writing to develop their talent in the said field beside faculty members also contribute with their articles in the said magazine
