Goswami Ganesh Dutt Sanatan Dharam College, Hoshiarpur was popularly known as G.G.D.S.D. College, Hoshiarpur and formerly Hindu National College was established in 1945 but came into existence on 1st January 1946 and originally founded and managed by Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 1st January 1958 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.69 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th July 2012.

The aim of the college was to provide a gateway to the socially, economically and educationally deprived people of Hariana and its feeding ‘kandi’ area, for having an easy access to further education.

It is a co-educational private Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the semi-urban part of Hoshiyarpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

History of the College:

Educationally, the year 1949 proved to be a bonanza year for the people of this area. The college which was originally founded as Hindu Tyagmurti Goswami Ganesh Dutt Ji (Founder of the College) as a National College in 1945 in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan ), was rehabilitated after partition in Hariana.

By the messiah of the common man, ‘Karamyogi’ Tyagmurthi Goswami Ganesh Dutt Ji Maharaj, the ‘Dharam Putra’ of ‘Bapu’Gandhi and the ‘Dharam Guru’ of Dr. Rajender Parshad, a great fund-raiser, social worker and the doyen and General-Secretary of Sanatan Dharam Paratinidhi Sabha (Punjab) Lahore.

This is the same Sabha, which was originally founded in 1921 by venerated Pt.

Madan Mohan Malviya, the great national leader and freedom fighter of the moderate stream, an educationist, a social reformer, a true ‘sanatanist’ and the founder of Benaras Hindu University.

Since then, the college with its new name ‘Goswami Ganesh Dutt Sanatan Dharam College’, Hariana, despite its financial fetters, has been treading on its turbulent journey towards excellence. With the passage of time, goals have changed. The outlook of the institution has also changed.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of education, sports and curricular activities under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Management streams with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts streams with various specializations for the students. It offers Post Graduate Diploma and Add-On Certificate courses as well.
