About G.D. Modi College of Arts
G.D. Modi College of Arts, Palanpur was established on 24th October 2013. It is one of the oldest and prestigious institutions of Banaskantha District.
The college is managed by Banaskantha District Kelavani Mandal, Palanpur whose vision is to provide quality education to students from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of region, religion, caste, economic strata and to promote scientific temper and spirit of humanism.
The area where the college is located can be considered as prime residential area vastly inhabited by people belonging to middle-class, lower middle-class and even poor people.
The college is affiliated to Hemachandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 11 September 2003 under Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade on 16th September 2004.
Since its establishment in 1964, the college has continued to perform well in implementing the vision and mission of “The Mandal”. It gives me the real thrill to witness my college making much progress at a gallop. The college is situated in one of the backward districts of the state.
80% students come from the rural area. Inspiring them to be a successful citizen of a global village is a mammoth task. In this environment of utter competitiveness, they have got really to push themselves to succeed in life. I am sure this college shall rise to this challenge.
G.D. Modi College of Arts always aspires to aim high, scaling great heights in its quest for excellence in imparting human, intellectual, spiritual and moral formation of the students.
Having successfully crossed the various hurdles encountered on the way to its growth, G.D.Modi College of Arts has grown in stature and strength today, and has become one of the finest educational institutions dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
The college offers three years degree courses, two years PG courses & Ph.D. courses in Arts stream under Hemachandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. It also offers some Add-on courses.
- The college has an attractive, campus situated in secured and serene atmosphere suitable for learning
- The college has separate individual departments for all subjects with young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff and with good results.
- The college has the most eminent Faculty members and they are really well qualified, experienced and truly committed towards enhancement and development of the students.

- The college has well-equipped with modern facilities like library, laboratory, classrooms, computer lab, canteen, seminar halls, multipurpose halls, playground & hostel etc.
- A sufficient number of classrooms with varying sizes are made available for the smooth conduct of different classes in the college.
- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed.
- The college has a book bank for helping the poor and backward class students.
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments.
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
- The college has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 15th July 2008 and Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to assure the quality of the college.
- Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs.
- State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus.
- The institute provides the training facility like- face to face interview, resume making, communication skills, that help the students to face the campus recruitment.
- For every course, the college imparts practical training to its students that helps them to understand better, improve their demonstrative skills, eliminate hesitation and in this process strives to mold them into industry ready professionals.
- The college also provides NCC training to its students. The NCC cadets attend different camps and earn pride for themselves and for the college.
- The college Unit NSS Wing performs different type of social services within and outside of the area
- The college maintains a "Students Welfare Fund" to provide financial help to the poor and deserving students, on application from such students, subject to the availability of funds.
