G.C.M. College of Education (GCMCOE), New Barrackpur was established in 1967. The college is affiliated to Calcutta University. 

This is a Co-Education, Non-Minority College. The college aims to train the young aspirants to become skillful teachers at the secondary and higher secondary level. The objective of the College is to propose the proper Training to the Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers and to improve the academic activities of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers.

The college is organizing different seminar, workshop, excursion, exhibition etc. The college is involved to establish the relationship between school and society. The college is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college is well equipped with modern facilities for the benefit of the students.

G.C.M. College of Education, New Barrackpore, Kolkata was established in 1967 by the "New Barrackpore Siksha Samaj" with the prime objective of preparing efficient and committed teachers for our country, with special emphasis on thier moral growth and development. The motto of the institution is "LIGHT TO ENLIGHTEN'. The students are expected to become lights of the society to illumine the world. The quest for excellence is highlighted in the vision and mission of the institution. Being affiliated to the West Bengal State University, Barasat and the College follows the scholastic and co-scholastic activities as prescribed by the University. The College is recognized by the UGC under section 2 (F) and 12(B) of the Act and also by NCTE. College is NAAC accredited (2nd cycle) in the year 2016.
