Food Craft Institute, Darjeeling is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in 1990 and since April, 1995 it is under Tourism Department, Govt. of West Bengal and is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi.

The Institute is designed to train promising young boys and girls in catering technology and in specific field such as Food Production Front Office operation, accommodation, reception, waiting, book-keeping, house keeping and allied tropics, depending on the branch of the industry which the trainee desires to take up.
