Emarti Devi Women's Degree College, Nayasarak (Dist. Cuttack) was also known as Emarti Devi Women's College, Nayasarak was established on 18th August 1980 was started functioning in its initial years as an Intermediate School established in 1981-82 in the premises of J.P.C. Trust building and managed by Joharimal Public Charitable (J.P.C.) Trust.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
It is affiliated with the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in 1986 under Act, 1956.
It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (in 1st Cycle) on 2nd February 2006.
The aim of the college is to impart proper knowledge to the educated youth in the field of arts and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose, and spirit of Education.
It is women non-government full aided private Institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of a Cuttack played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
Due to the sincere and selfless effort of the Governing Body, the Arts faculty at the level of Intermediate opened in 1981-82. +2 Commerce faculty was opened In the academic session 2000-2001.
Due to the changed policy of the State Government, +2 Arts of Education was introduced according to the system of 10 + 2 + 3 and the Intermediate faculty was replaced by +2 system of Education and the same has been affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa in the year 1983-84.
In 1986 the College got affiliated to Utkal University of +3 degree course in a pass and in the 1994-95 session, it was allowed by the Government to open Hons.

This college has conferred as the status as "College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)" and the best college by the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Also numbers of an award in publication, offering scholarship also awarded by the different societies.
The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha.
The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts and Commerce streams with various specializations under Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. It also offers self-financed courses for the students.
