Eastern Dooars B.Ed. Training College (EDBETC), Jalpaiguri was established in 2006.

Eastern Dooars B.Ed Training College under the University of North Bengal. There has been a long felt need of establishing a new B.Ed. as well as M.Ed. College for the Students of Jalpaiguri, especially of Dooars, and Easter Part of Alipurduar and Cooch Behar with a view to giving scope to the education degree to enhance their skill and competency to join in the Teaching Profession. Such Degree now in a knowledge base society may be treated as an essential prerequisite for becoming a teacher in a Secondary / Higher Secondary School.

A Teacher has to renew and update his/her teaching. Competency all along his/her career and B.Ed course is just the first base of this Teaching Process. Keeping proper emphasis on the need of the Society and to meet the future challenges in the field of Education.The college is affiliated by North Bengal University, West Bengal and approved by N.C.T.E. NCTE Number is ERC/7-70.6.3/2006/3839(1), dated 31st  October 2006 of recognition order by NCTE.

The college offers quality education with the objective of promoting excellence in teacher education and has been accorded 5-Star accreditation for its distinction in producing quality teachers.

The College is involved to give the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information Technology for School Purpose. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.
