Duvvuru Ramanamma Women's College, Nellore was established in 1981.

Its affilaited to Sri Venkateswara University (SVU).

This is the first affiliated college in the entire Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) area that volunteered for NAAC Accreditation and it was accredited by NAAC with B++ grade during 2004 with 82.05 score and it is also the first college to have volunteered for Re-accreditation during 2010 and it was Re-Accredited by NAAC with “A” grade with 3.14 CGPA during 2010. The College was granted Autonomous Status by UGC during the year 2010 and it is the only Autonomous College in the entire three districts. The college brought under the perview of V.S. University, a newly established University in the Nellore Dist. during 2010. The UGC bestowed CPE Status to the college during the year 2010 and released Rupees One crore and fifty lakhs(1.50 Lakhs) for creating infrastructure facilities in the campus. The U.G.C also selected the college for C.P.E. II Phase during the year 2013and sanctioned rupees One crore and Twenty five Lakhs (1.25 Lakhs) for the development of Institution. This College was selected one among the colleges at National level by UGC and MHRD, to upgrade the status of the college under RUSA and invited to participate in the Principals meeting held on 6th October 2013 at New Delhi. The UGC and MHRD department advised the college Management to apply for upgrading the status of the college under RUSA.

 This is the first college in the University area to start P.G. courses . The college initiated to start new courses in UG and PG year after year and at present the college offers 9 courses at Under graduate level and 7 courses at post graduate level. Present Strength of College is 1,120.

 This is the only college in the A.P.

state got Two UGC Innovative programmes at P.G. level. ( M.A.Corporate Telugu & M.Sc.,Human Nutrition and Nutracutical Chemistry) The college is Able to achieve 80-90% pass percentage in UG and PG every year. Able to produce 15 Ph.D’s out of which 10 are obtained under UGC FIP/FDP. The college is Able to grab almost all the schemes of UGC.

 The college also succeeded in getting six UGC career oriented programmes and also able to start and run 15 job oriented short term courses for the benefit of the Students. Number of students are selected and representing in Inter University games at State and National level every year.

The college conducts spiritual classes to inculcate spiritual values among the students, to break down the social barriers and to have religious tolerance.

The truths that are common to all religions are being taught to students to realize the importance of human values. Based on the sayings of Swami Vivekananda the college gives priority to character building and value based education.
