About Dum Dum Motijheel College

Dum Dum Motijheel College, Kolkata was established in 1950.

The college is affiliated to the West Bengal State University and has been accredited by NAAC (UGC) at B+ level.

Dum Dum Motijheel College aims at contributing towards the making education as instrumental metamorphosis of the present day social condition for the purpose of formation of inquisitive mind of the teenage learners so that much desired principles of social justice, equality of opportunity, respect for secular ideas and democratic values enshrined in the constitution of India may prevail.

The college inspires the youth to strive in excellence in every field of knowledge and become active, enthusiastic and revolutionary agents of social change in the country.

The College stands for academic excellence, enrichment of skills and character formation so as to enable students to excel in the field of their choice. It is one of the premier academic institutions of West Bengal which intellectually inspires and morally encourages the youth to meet the global challenges of the present millennium. Since the day of its inception on August 28, 1950, the College has set itself the mission of creating human wealth by imparting quality education to young learners of diverse socio-economic backgrounds and inspiring them to grow as responsible citizens and good human beings.

The College runs in two shifts Morning i.e. Womens Section and Day Section i.e. Coeducational. Offices of both Day and Morning Sections are located in the Golden Jubilee Building.

The College with twenty two departments out of which 15 departments offer Honours courses, 92 teaching staff including part-time, contractual whole time and guest teachers and 56 non teaching staff including administrative and technical staff and nearly 3000 students, has achieved the honour of being one of the largest Government sponsored colleges in the state of West Bengal.

College has a Post Graduate Unit in M.Sc.

Mathematics and M.A. English affiliated to WBSU.

With the introduction of a number of job oriented newly emerging subjects, the College has reached a new level in the pursuit of its overall development.
