Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education, Hailakandi was established in 1996.

The college is affiliated to Assam University, Silchar and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Brief History:

Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education which was initially known as Hailakandi B.Ed. College. Prof. J.B. Bhattacharjee, 1st Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar inaugurated the college on 15th July/1996 in presence of by Sri Sahidul Alom Choudhury, the then P. & R.D. Minister, Govt. of Assam.

The Thrust for the formation of the college was the zeal to work for the betterment of the society through the training of teachers for professional preparation as well as through various welfare activities. A trust in the name and style as ‘Foundation for Education and Social Welfare Hailakandi, Assam was formed to run and manage the college as well as to do welfare activities.

When we started our academic session we had face lot of troubles in the path of growth and development of the college. We had the confidence with us and we kept on moving set aside all those obstacles and ultimately got the status of its present form of  Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education.

It is the result of 18 years of growth and experience. During this course of time our college has been visited by distinguished personalities and educationists. Bora, Academic Officer, SCERT; Mrs. Kumkum Sinha, Director SCERT, Assam & other. They extended their valuable suggestions and followed the same for the academic development of this Institution.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 45 % from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Students here admitted based on the merit basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and / or in the entrance examination or any other selection process  as per the policy of the central government / university.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education, Hailakandi in its various department.
