Dr. Ambedkar College, Bengaluru South was established in 1978 by late Sri. D. Baskaran, Ex-Deputy Mayor in the name of Dr. Ambedkar, the champion of the downtrodden, to impart higher education particularly to the downtrodden and weaker sections of the Society.

The college was established under the management of Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Education Trust.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bengaluru and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The college has developed a lot in various fields, since its inception. Within a span of 30 years, over twenty thousand students have already availed the benefit of getting an education from this institution. The College at present offers Pre-University and Degree Courses.

Located in the heart of the city in Indiranagar and quarter kilometer close to HAL II Stage, Bus terminus on the 100 Feet Road with buses connecting all destinations in and around the City & Cantonment area. Far from the madding crowd with an excellent ambiance for studies and half kilometer close to Metro Station which is on CMH Road is the campus which is large and spread over 3.25 acres.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Commerce stream under Bangalore University, Bengaluru. It also offers two years intermediate course in Arts & Commerce streams under Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka.
