Dr. A.L.M. PG Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chennai was established in 1980.

The institute is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. 

under the inspiration and leadership of Prof. P. Govindarajulu. The institute is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
