Doon Valley Institute of Education, Karnal was established in 2004.

It is a premier institute for quality education with the aim to provide a window into teacher education and to be one of the centers of excellence in teacher education based on a blend of modern and traditional values.

The college is at present affiliated with Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind but formerly affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. It is recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur.

It also accredited by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade on 16th September 2011.

The mission is to be an institute of excellence in academics and value based education for the holistic development of our pupil-teachers.

The aim of the college is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose, and spirit of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education.

The college is involved in giving the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information technology for School Purpose.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Doon Valley Institute of Education, Karnal in its various departments.
