Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad (Dist. Kottayam) is Christian Minority College was established on 3rd April 1964 under the inspiration of the Catholic Diocese of Palai by St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 30th June 1996 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.23 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 16th September 2011.

The aim of the college is dispelling darkness and spreading the light of true wisdom all around, irrespective of caste, creed, language or religion through the dissemination of knowledge and other skills that would mold the young generation into exemplary citizens well equipped to face the challenges of the times.

It is a co-educational self-financed Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Kottayam played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The parish, St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad, has etched her name in the academia of Kerala by establishing two High Schools and two LP schools in the latter half of the 18th century and a Higher Secondary School in 1998.

The former President of India, Dr. K.R. Narayanan and Chevalier Dr.P.J. Thomas, a renowned Economist in India did their schooling in these institutions.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Add-On Certificate course.

Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
