Disaster Management Institute (DMI), Bhopal was established in 1987.

in the backdrop of world’s worst ever Chemical Disaster as an autonomous organization of Housing and Environment Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

DMI is recognized as one of the premier Institute in the area of Disaster Management at National level and as Center of Excellence in Management of Chemical Accidents.

DMI is also recognized as one of the few Third Party Inspection Agencies (TPIAs) for certification of ERDMP documents for midstream and downstream activities of Oil & Gas sector.

DMI is the only institute of its kind in the whole country attaining substantial credibility in imparting professional training and providing consultancy services in the area of natural as well as man-made disaster management.

The principal objective of the institute is to evolve techniques for and enhance competence in prevention, preparedness, mitigation and management of natural as well as industrial disasters.

The Institute offers both training courses and consultancy services on various facets of mitigation and management of disasters.
