D.R. Mane Mahavidyalaya, Kagal (Dist. Kolhapur) was also known as Dinkarrao Ramchandra Mane Mahavidyalaya, Kagal was established on 1st June 1984 by Late Shri Y.D. Mane the veteran educationist and founder secretary of The Kagal Education Society (1980).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 31st July 2007 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.61 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 21st February 2014.

With just 49 students as the source, the college was opened in June 1984 only with the faculty of Commerce. Later, the Junior college of Arts and Commerce was also added to the Senior College in 1987.

To fulfill the growing demand from the students, the faculty of Arts (at senior wing) was started in 1989. Further, in 1991-92, the Minimum Competency and Vocational Courses (M.C.V.C.) at the Junior College were started.

Then the three years degree course at senior level - Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) was started in 2008-09. Today 1376 students are at senior level and 1293 are enrolled in the Junior and M.C.V.C. wings of the college.

It is co-educational institute, providing a regular course which is located in the rural part of Maharashtra region played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

At present, the college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Science, & Commerce streams with various optional specializations under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations under the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Yashwantrao Chavan Open University (YCMOU), Nashik to offer three years undergraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream through distance mode.
