Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (DIHM&CT) was established in 1983, by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with the Government of Delhi for training in trades & crafts in hotel & catering operations.

The DIHM&CT has been a centre for excellence & a living testament to the commitment to the hospitality education.  It is the metamorphosis of Food Craft Institute.

In the beginning, the institute was started from a portion of the Polytechnic building at Kashmere Gate, Delhi and has made a long journey till the shifting of the premise at Lajpat Nagar churning out trained manpower all through.

In 1999, the institute was upgraded from Food Crafts Institute to a fully fledged Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

Since then the institute has been training future hospitality professionals and catering to the rising demands in various fields like – hotels, aviation, hospitals, travel and tourism, restaurant and bars, fast food joints etc. At DIHM courses encompass both practical and theoretical knowledge of every phase of Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management starting from B Sc to short Diplomas and various skill enhancement programs. It also offers various tailor-made programmes created as per the requirement of various agencies.

The institute is jointly sponsored by, Ministry of Tourism Government of India and Government of Delhi It is headed by a Board of Governors consisting of eminent persons from government and industry. This institute is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management, New Delhi, which is apex body to control and conduct an examination.
