Digboi College, Tinsukia was established in 1965. It is one of the premier institution situated about 1 km towards west from the zero point of Digboi Town. The college has a sprawling campus of 25 acres of land endowed with exotic beauty of hills and forests. Far from the madding crowds of the township, the calm and serene atmosphere of the college reminds one of the hermitages for meditation.

The college is affialted to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B). It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B+" Grade.

Brief History:

A handful of dedicated educationists and social activists in the persons of Dwijesh Ch. Deb Sarma, Tarun Ch. Goswami, Krishna Prasad Barua, Prafulla Chandra Barua, DharmeswarBarua, MotilalPeriwal, S.C.Dutta Roy, Priya Das Talukdar, K.N. Goswami, Dharmananda Upadhayay, MerajHussain took the initiative to start a college in Digboi, Response of the people of Digboi was spontaneous. They put in their best to have a college of their own. And their dream became a reality on 15th July, 1965. The benevolent role performed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (AOD) in the growth of the college deserves special acknowledgment.

The college has, over the years, built up an impressive and differential infrastructure. It has a large auditorium, a well-stocked computerised library with internet facility, an administrative building, a canteen and hostels for both boys and girls, well-equipped laboratories, separate departmental rooms, a play ground, a gymnasium room etc. We here make all effort to shape outstanding careers of our students in various fields. It is a provincialised college under the Government of Assam.

A galaxy of competent teachers strive to impart value-based education to the students and encourage them to hold one’s individual space in the global perceptive. The college has the reputation of outstanding performance in academics, sports and co-curricular activities and take pride of producing perfect human resources to the country.

Digboi College is a three-faculty co-educational college imparting education in the undergraduate level in Arts, Science and Commerce stream-both Major and Core.

At present the college has about 1200 students, 63 faculty members and 29 office staff.

The college offers two years Higher Secondary Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and three years Degree Courses in Arts, Science & Commerce under Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and also offers P.G. Semester Courses affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Gauhati University for PG courses. Besides this, the college is running a Study Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOPU), Guwahati.
