Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar was established on 20th June 1962 by Late Padmashri Vasantrao S. Dempo, Late Vaikuntrao S. Dempo, the Late Dayanand Bandodkar and other generous members of the society. Presently Dhempe College of Arts & Science is being managed by the Dempo Charities Trust.

It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide a platform in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the path of progress.

The college is affiliated to Goa University, North Goa and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 on 26th April 1995. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade with 3.12 CGPA on 28th March 2010 and is also ISO Certified.

The main objective of Dhempe College is to provide good quality education to young students so that the acquired knowledge would help them in their overall development.

The college offers three years Degree Courses in Arts & Science stream under Goa University, North Goa. It also offers some Post Graduate Diploma Courses & Add-On Courses.

These students have also excelled in extracurricular activities, in sports and athletics. Many have performed well, not only in inter- collegiate events but even in inter-university and national level competitions.

The institutions of Dempo Charities Trust are affiliated to Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations, North Goa and Goa University, North Goa. But besides this, they are also associated with other educational and professional bodies.

Apart from managing these educational institutions, the Trust also provides annual scholarships and financial assistance amounting to Rupees Five lakhs, to hundreds of needy and deserving students from the institutions under its management but also to students from different parts of Goa as well as outside Goa.

The Trust has recently instituted twenty-five scholarships in memory of founder trustee Late Padmashri Vasantrao Sinai Dempo for students from Santa Cruz for pursuing higher education.

The Trust also supports and promotes cultural activities like music, theater and festivals promoting Goan traditions, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Training camps conducted by Goa University, North Goa and other professional bodies find supports of the Trust.
