Devi Kandal Nityananda College (DKNC), Cuttack was established in 1981.

The college provides undergraduate courses in arts. The aim of the college is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need in this era of information and teaching and as well as to provide ideal environment to develop mental, Physical, social and spiritual level of students.

Along with an excellent academic ambience, the emphasis here is on quality education through various teaching aids and over all development of the students through different interactive sessions. The college is affiliated to Utkal University, established in 1943. This is the oldest university in Orissa and the seventeenth oldest university in India.

The University was started under the Utkal University Act, 1943. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University that has produced some of the best brains in Orissa. There are at present twenty-six Post-Graduate Departments located in the University Campus for studies and research in various disciplines of Science, Humanities, Business Administration, Social Science and others.

It has the largest space amongst all universities in Bhubaneswar and is also the most centrally located one. It has one of the highest numbers of educational departments in India and is also the state largest in this respect.
