Devchand College, Arjunnagar (Dist. Kolhapur) was established on 1st June 1961 and managed by Janta's Shikshan Mandal, Arjunnagar which was established in the year 1961.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 20th June 1961 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.07 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 5th November 2016.

Padmabhushan Shriman Seth Devchandji Shah established the college in 1960 with the sole objective of transforming lives of thousands of children of villagers, poor farmers, landless laborers, tobacco and beedi workers in and around forty villages surrounding the town of Nipani through the potent tool of quality higher education.

The college stands for weak and deprived of the society and cater to their educational needs at the reasonable cost and transform their lives by providing them higher education with par excellence.

It is co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in the rural part of Kolhapur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
 
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college offers conventional UG, PG, & Doctorate courses in Science, Arts, and Commerce streams. Besides these, several need-based Certificate and Diploma courses are offered to students.

The institution has two distance education centers which provide additional opportunity for students to obtain dual degrees, namely - Centre for Distance Education, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik.

During the third cycle, this college has introduced one PG Course, two diploma courses, ten certificate courses, and one distance education centre.

The institution offers academic flexibility to the students through its wide range of courses, optional subjects, and add-on courses, which can contribute to the development of our nation.

The UGC guidelines and the vision and mission of the institution are adhered to while restructuring the courses and curricula.
