Devaswom Board College, Thalayolaparambu (Dist. Kottayam) was established on 15th July 1965 and managed by Travancore Devaswom Board (R).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam formerly affiliated with University of Kerela, Thiruvananthapuram and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 1st February 1994 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.75 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 8th January 2011.

The aim of the college is committed to delivering value-based learning and is sworn to uphold environment-friendly approach in its spirit also true to its creed of quality, equity, and excellence bears the flagship of inclusive growth, participatory governance and environmental stewardship in all its endeavors.

It is a co-educational government Institute, providing a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Kottayam played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The institution initially started functioning as a Junior College in 1965 with 6 batches of Pre-degree classes and a students strength of 480.

In 1972 the college was upgraded to a Degree College with the induction of B.A. Malayalam, Politics and B.Sc. Botany.

The student strength of the College at present is nearly 1150. There are fifty-six members on the Teaching Staff and 43 members on the Non-Teaching Staff. Also, the college was surrounded by the scenic spot of natural beauty spreading over 22 acres of greenery all around.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.

The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

The college offers three years undergraduate and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts and Science streams with various specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Add-On Certificate course.

Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
