Department Of Economics, University of Jammu (DEUJ), Jammu  was established in 1956 under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir University and accredited as 'A' Grade University by National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India.

The Department of Economics is one of the oldest Departments of the University.

The Department received fillip when the Jammu division of the Jammu and Kashmir University was elevated to the status of a full-fledged University and the University of Jammu came into existence in 1969.
