Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur was established in October 1983 and runs under Arya Vidya Sabha, an organization run on the principles of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, an advocate of women’s rights and education.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Nagpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) from May 1989 to October 2004 & 12(B) from October 2004 under Act, 1956. 

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.72 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 30 November 2011.

The college’s a women college situated in urban North Nagpur, the backward area which is a reserved Constituency. Needless to say, the majority of girls studying here either belong to a minority community (Sindhi) or scheduled caste and tribes.

The college status is the grant in aid and self-financing state level that the fees for the students are fixed by the government.

Hailing from such a background, the girls are not encouraged towards higher education due to poverty and early marriages. The college is dedicated to the upliftment of socially and economically backward girls.

The aim of our college is to develop the intellectual, physical, and mental faculties of the students. The management body also tries its level best to help as many girls as possible to attain higher education with their generous help and motivation. Every year the fees of as many as 50 girls are paid by the philanthropists.

The college also offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts & Commerce stream with optional specializations and offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts stream with various specializations under Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Nagpur.

The college provides a safe & healthy environment to the girls in which they can undertake any curricular or co-curricular activities wholeheartedly for all-round development.

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students in its various departments. The college has well equipped, airy and spacious class rooms with all modern facilities.
 
The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.

• To make the girls of unprivileged class morally and economically strong to make India self-reliant as envisaged by our beloved Saint Swami Dayanand Saraswati, who stressed on women’s education and emancipation
• To create congenial atmosphere to infuse professional approach in teaching and learning process to involve the teachers as well as students in generating proper knowledge-based disciplined atmosphere
• To give extra weight to personality and attitude development by instilling a sense of duty and belongingness towards the family, society and the nation
