D.R.M. Science College, was formerly known as DRM College in the mosther of all constituent schools and colleges of Bapuji Educational Association. Previously it was a Government Intermediate college started in 1947 and was run by the Government of Mysore. The Bapuji Educational Association took over this college in 1958 and converted into A Firt Grade Arts, Commerce and Science College. Being the only college in and around Davangere, it catered to the educational needs of rural and urban people.

It is named after the donor Sri Dharma Rathnakara Rajanahalli Maddurappa, (DRM) Davangere. The college, owing to its increasing strength, was bifurcated into DRM Science College and ARG College and Arts and Commerce in 1973. The college which was formerly affiliated to Mysore University and then Kuvempu University and the college had got "Sadhana Puraskar" award during 2010 from Kuvempu University for its outstanding performance. Now it has the permanent affiliation of Davangere University, Davangere. This is an aided college, and recognized by the UGC under 2(f), 12(b) and is getting UGC grants.

The Government of Karnataka took a decision to separate P.U. Classes from Composite Degree College. Accordingly the college was further bifurcated into DRM PU Science College and DRM Science College in 2001.

The college has been Accredited by NAA with Three Starts (***) on 22-03-2001. During Second Cycle with grade B+ on 31-03-2007 and With grade 'B' on 1-05-2015. ANd now preparing for 4th cycle accreditation from NAAC.

The college has an independent building built in an area of 4 acres of land. The first block houses the principal's chamber, office, general staff room, sports room, ladies rest room and classrooms. The second blokc houses Physics and Chemistry practical labs and staff room. The third block is the block of Natural Sciences and NSS Room and the fourth block is the library block in the ground floor and in the second floor are the departments of Mathmatics and Computer Science.

The college is proud to have units of NCC, NSS, Ranger Rover, LEAD, Youth Red Cross, which are supporting in building the personality of the Students.
