D.A.V. College, Jalandhar was established in 1918 in the sacred memory of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, along with the Vedic traditions to the youth of contemporary India and founded by Pandit Mehar Chand

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.31 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 10th December 2014.

The aim of the college was to set high standards in education while maintaining a balance between Vedic wisdom and modernity.

D.A.V. College, Jalandhar at present is one of the largest academic centers of North India imparting instructions in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Food Science & Technology and Media Studies.

Besides a host of courses at the under graduate level, the college provides instruction in 14 disciplines at the PG level.

It is a co-educational self-financed private college, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of a Jalandhar played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college has been received numbers of an award in publication, offering scholarship also awarded by the different societies with in different fields.

The college offers two years intermediate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Punjab.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts, Computer Application, Science, and Commerce with various specializations under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, Management streams with various specializations for the students.

It offers diploma, self-financed, and certificate courses as well.
