D.A.V. College of Education, Abohar (Dist. Firozpur) was a teacher training institute established in 1968 and managed by D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
The college is affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
It is also recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jaipur & Govt. of Punjab to offer B.Ed. & M.Ed. courses.
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.45 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 21st February 2014.
The main aim of the college is determined to provide the quality education to the future teachers. With the correct mix of technology and human touch, the college empowers the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.
It is a co-educational self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Firozpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
The college also received the many achievements awards in the field of Teacher Training under Punjab University, Chandigarh.
A glorious chapter has recently been added to the fabulous history of the esteemed institution as the college has got approval from University Grants Commission (UGC) for establishing ‘Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati study center for the promotion and dissemination of sublime ideals of Swamiji.
The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government.
The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Punjab University, Chandigarh.
The college offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
The college offers two years Master of Education (M.Ed.) course for those who have completed their Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Students here are admitted who completed their graduation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the graduation level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.
At present, the college also started to offer two years Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course for those who have completed their intermediate with the minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized college/university under the affiliating to Department of School Education & SCERT, Mohali.
Apart from this, the college offers two years diploma level course of Elementary Teacher Training (E.T.T.) for teaching in 2005. This program is an opening path for the students who have passed their senior secondary examination (10+2).
