College of Teachers Education (CTE), Goalpara formerly, (Government B.T College, Goalpara) was established on 1986.

Colleges of teacher Education (CTEs) were established following the National Policy on Education (NPE) 1986 and the Programme of Action POA (1992). The CTEs are meant to work in the field of secondary teacher education – both pre-service and in-service. In addition, they also have the responsibility of carrying out research, innovation, material development and provide extension and support to schools and other bodies.

The role of CTEs has become extremely important in not only expanding the quantity and quality of secondary school teachers but also reinvent itself to proactively integrate with the larger state teacher education system.

It is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college was started for the development of well trained teachers to fulfill the need of qualified teachers in the region.

The college was set up with an objective of developing trained teacher to meet the requirement of imparting quality education at the secondary and senior secondary level in the region.

The institute offers one year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Students here admitted based on the merit basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and / or in the entrance examination or any other selection process  as per the policy of the central government / University.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at College of Teachers Education (CTE), Goalpara in its various department.

Vision & Mission:

• CTEs would continue to conduct pre-service and in-service training programs for secondary school teachers

• CTEs would conduct training need analysis and baseline surveys for organizing training programs including teacher handbooks and training modules

• CTEs would conduct impact studies to study effect of training in classrooms processes and learning outcomes.

  This would have to be done through substantial school visits and classroom observations

• CTEs would also prepare implementation guidelines for plan activities including training and projects
