College of Education, Nagaon was established in 1992 as a result of the effort of some educationists of Nagaon. It is one of the premier teacher training institute of Assam.
Since its inception the classes were first held in Dawson Higher Secondary School, Nagaon. But in 1994 college was shifted to its own building located near Srimanta Sankar Mission Road (In between Srimanta Sankar Mission and Noraml School, Nagaon) at a diatance of about 200 meters from 37 No National Highway.
The college is affiliated to Guahati University, Guwahati and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) - NCTE Regd. No- ERC/7-48(ER4856) /2004/2651, Dated 09.09.04. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with "B" Grade.
The college has an adequate number of competent and dedicated teacher education in the teaching staff, a big libray with all necessary text - books and reference books and attractive building with a big hall for general classes and rooms for method classes, method classes, multipurpose laboratory, computer laboratory, indoor games etc.
The college was set up with an objective of promoting quality education in the region and has well experinced teachers to enlighten the aspiring teachers.
Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.
The institute offers one year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed there graduation with minimum aggregate of 45 % from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.
Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at College of Education, Morigaon in its various departments.
