College of Education, Boko was established on 31st May, 1998 and the college started offering admissions to the young aspirants from the academic session 1999 - 2000.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati vide its letter No. GU/Aff/2006/50 dated 08-04-2006 and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) vide order no. ERC/7-51(ER-51.7.2)/2004/3584 with an intake capacity of 100 students.

The college was started With a view to meet the demand of trained teachers and to facilitate the higher training to the fresh graduate, working graduate and post graduate teachers and also spreading light to higher education to the doors of the locality.

This is a renowned institute of teacher education, offering Bachelor of Education programme and the college was set up with an objective of fulfilling the demand of trained secondary level teachers in the region.

The college came into existence by the efforts of local educationist and intellectuals and Spread over an area of 22, 624 sq mtrs, the self financed, co-educational college received approval of the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education).

Students here are admitted who completed there graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.) and Scheduled Tribes (S.T.), (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks in eligibility for admission.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at College of Education, Boko in its various departments.
