Chitani Mitani (C.M.) Dubey Post Graduate College, Bilaspur was established in 1956. It is one of the premier institutions established to impart and provide a platform in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the path of progress.

The college is affiliated to Bilaspur Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Brief History:

The college was founded through the munificence of Late Pt. Dwarika Prasad Dubey, who in the same year founded the Dubey Shikshan Samiti which runs the C.M. Dubey Post Graduate College.

The college was inaugurated by Pt. Dwarika Prasad Mishra the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sagar on 31st July 1956. The object was to spread the benefits of sound education in this part of the country.

C.M. Dubey College had started as a co-educational institution with only two faculties Commerce and Arts. The Arts faculty was only for girls students. It started in the year 1956 with only 63 students. Generous donations from the members of Dubey Family and others soon placed the college on a firm footing.

With a band of devoted teachers, soon within a short span of three years, the college had its own building, the number of the students rose to 371 in 1958. By 1961 teaching in the Science faculty had started and the growth of the students and staff was rapid.

The college started imparting instruction up to the post graduate level in 1963 by opening PG. Classes in Commerce, English, Hindi, and Sanskrit. It soon became a Constituent College of the Pt. Ravi Shankar University Raipur.

In the year 1970, M.Sc. classes in Botany and Zoology and M.A. in Economics and Political Science were opened.

Further, in 1971, it added M.Sc. Classes in Chemistry and Physics, in 1972 M.A. in History, Geography and M.Sc. in Mathematics, in 1974 P.G. Diploma in Banking and in 1989 PG Diploma in Business Management.

In order to provide education in new subjects like Computer Science and Microbiology, the new building was constructed with furnished and well-equipped laboratory. B.Sc. M.Sc. courses in Computer Science and Microbiology were started in the year 1998.

The college has also started BE.d course from session 2005-06 and is going to start ME.d, from this session. The college has indeed made a very rapid progress. Its students have made a mark in the University Examinations and its alumni have found, honored places in society. Its students have steadily grown.
