Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT), Tumkur was established in 2001.

CIT was started by Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT) runs under the auspices of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society (CRED Society).

The institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
