Chandrapur College, Burdwan was established in 1985. Its affiliated to University of Burdwan.

Chandrapur College is a Government-aided College, affiliated to the University of Burdwan. It was established in August, 1985 on about six acres of land in the village of Chandrapur under the Sargram Gram Panchayat of Katwa Block-I in Burdwan District. The metalled road by the College runs through the village Jabagram that gave birth to Hasan Azizul Haque, the celebrated Bengali story-writer of both Bangladesh and West Bengal. That the agrarian village had farsighted people to feel the need for knowledge and education is affirmed by a Higher Secondary School Celebrating Centenary year in 2017. Keeping in mind the pressing need of the students from feeder schools around, the arduous people of the local area tried to found a centre of higher education and thus the college came into being.

It was founded to promote the higher education in this region. This is a Private Aided College. Its aim is to cater the needs of the youths of Burdwan district not only in the field of education but in other aspects such as health, economy, sports, environment, social awareness etc. The curriculum is designed by the Boards of Studies of Burdwan University.

The college offers under graduate courses in Arts, Science and commerce stream. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities.

VISION & MISSION

The college was established and is still continuing its journey with the vision of spreading the light of knowledge among the learners of the poor, backward and Minority Community, particulary, emancipating the girl students from the darkness of ignorance and leading towards the world of knowledge and self relience. The rural society of Begnal, as well as of India, still passpost to the big outside world beyond their domestic world. The college has cherished a vision of giving them a passport to the big outside world beyond their rural boundary with the conviction of their ability acquired a vision of education.

To make the young students discipline citizen of the country is its another goal. The college aspires to develop in the students entrepreneurial skills of their eligibility to grasp the empoyment opportunities as well as to be a part of the macrocosmic development of the society. To that end, extension of all out support to the students and maintain a learner-friendly atmosphere in the campus has remained the perennial mission of the college.
