Chandraketugarh Sahidullah Smriti Mahavidyalaya(CSSM), North 24 was established in 1997 and it is affiliated to the Calcutta University.

Chandraketugarh Sahidullah Smriti Mahavidyalaya started working since 25th April, 1997 in the district of 24 Pgs. (N) in West Bengal. Located in the outskirts of the city area, the college caters to the need of the young souls mostly from the underprivileged areas of society. We have completed nineteen years of tireless pursuit for the spread of knowledge among the rural youth, most of whom are first generation learners, for their economic self-empowerment and intellectual emancipation.

The aim of the college is to promote higher education and strives for socio-cultural as well as educational betterment of the surrounding areas.

The college offers undergraduate course in arts and commerce stream. All academic activities are carried out in accordance with the prescribed syllabi, examination schedules and academic calendar of the Calcutta University. The infrastructure of the campus generates an ideal ambiance for studies. The college has state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure.

It is the oldest of the modern universities in India. It was established in 1857 during the administration of Lord Canning, the Governor General of India. It is the only university in India which produced four Nobel laureates and has ranked consistently amongst the first five hundred universities in the world.

It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent and has been declared as a "Five Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The college purports to promote higher education for the empowerment of the rural youths . It also aims to provide professional and vocational training to meet the changing needs for a better way to living and to make them socially responsible citizen.

MISSION

The mission of the college is to create an ideal academic ambience in the institute towards the fulfillment of the goal of quality education, particularly higher education, through service and mutual co-operation of all, especially of the teachers, students, non-teaching employees, guardians and other stakeholders.

The mission is also to motivate the students for participating in different social and cultural programmes in and outside the college so that they become professionally capable and able to take their own, familial and social responsibilities.
