About Calorx Institute of Education

Calorx Institute of Education, Ahmedabad was established in 2009 under Calorx Teachers’ University. It is one of the Constituent Unit of Calorx Teachers’ University, Ahmedabad.

It is one of the prestigious institutes situated in the heart of the old city area of Ahmedabad. It is established with an aim to impart & provide a platform in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated under Calorx Teachers’ University, Ahmedabad and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) 1955 & 12(B) & approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to offer Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Calorx Institute of Education was established with a mission to nurture teachers par excellence, who are teachers by choice. Teachers’ are the backbone of every society as they nurture professionals from every sphere of life.

To fulfill this role teachers need to be provided the best of guidance and facilities so that they metamorphosis into teachers who can in turn nurture responsible, reflective and thinking individuals.

Calorx Institute of Education provides all these facilities in a learning environment with an innovative pedagogy. Calorx Institute of Education is situated in a lush green ambiance where greenery, the variety of birds and animals - peacocks, and colorful birds vie for attention.

It is around 25 Kms away from the Ahmedabad railway station and 15 Kms from the nearest airport. The institute is situated in Ognaj village in Ahmedabad district in Greenwood campus.

The institute offers two years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course for those who have completed their graduation with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their graduation from recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level.

But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled with a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

The institute also offers one year Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) & two years Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in various streams under Calorx Teachers’ University, Ahmedabad.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Calorx Institute of Education, Ahmedabad in its various departments.

The college has separate individual departments for all subjects with young, dynamic faculty and non-teaching staff and with good results.
The college has the most eminent Faculty members and they are really well qualified, experienced and truly committed towards enhancement and development of the students.
The institution is working with a shining sun, the spectrum which is radiating in all possible directions.
The college has well-equipped with modern facilities like library, laboratory, classrooms, computer lab, seminar halls, common rooms, canteen, gymkhana, playground, hostel & transportation etc.
A sufficient number of classrooms with varying sizes are made available for the smooth conduct of different classes in the college.
The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed.
Most of the students of the institute reside in the hostels which are situated near the campus. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are well equipped with water, electricity, and mess.
IT lab is equipped with thirty-five desktops with internet facility. Students use the lab for their regular computer classes. The lab is also open every day till 7 P.M in the evening so that the students can stay back and research for their projects and presentations.
Indoor Sports Room is well facilitated with sports equipment, a table tennis table, chess board, Chinese checker board. Students spend their time during the lunch hour here.
The institute has a playground with a volleyball court, kabaddi, and kho-kho court. Students learn these games and also participate in competitions here.
A common room for girls is located on the campus where girls spend their time during lunch hour.
The medical room has first aid kit and two beds for the students who fall sick during the working hours.
Placement cell is a crucial component of the institute. The placement cell networks with various schools and invites to interview the students in the campus. The cell through training on interview skills, resume writing, mock interviews help students hone their skills and prepare them for various in campus and off-campus interviews.
The institute is well equipped with labs such as language lab, Science lab, curriculum lab and Geography lab which are hubs of active learning in the campus.
The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
Internet facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs.
A health care has been started in the college for the benefit of students
State Government and the Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
The institute provides the training facility like- face to face interview, resume making, communication skills, that help the students to face the campus recruitment
For every course, the college imparts practical training to its students that helps them to understand better, improve their demonstrative skills, eliminate hesitation and in this process strives to mold them into industry ready professionals
