C. U. Shah Commerce College, Ahmedabad was established in 1969.

C.U.Shah Commerce College was established as C.U.Shah Science and Commerce College in the year 1968-69 under the aegis of C.U.Ronak Foundation. C.U.Shah Commerce College came into existence as a separate and independent institute from 15^th June, 1969.

The college was initially guided by the able leadership of the donor Shri Chimanlal Ujamshi Shah, popularly known as Shri C.U.Shah and the Founder Managing Trustee Late Shri I.M.Nanavati, a versatile personality and a renowned lawyer by profession. In the pioneering years of the college, it produced bachelors with an aim to making them eligible for the job opportunities available to them those days. In the beginning, the college focused the business potentials of the undergraduates and trained them to adapt to the requirements of the market during early 70s up to 80s.

At present, the college strives to meet the challenges of modern world under the guidance, support and leadership of Shri Sudhirbhai I Nanavati, our Managing Trustee and an eminent lawyer of Gujarat High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He takes keen interest in the development of college keeping in mind the modern requirements of education. His guidance and inspiration have been our strength in running the college with enthusiasm and positivism.

Our young and promising Trustee Shri Devangbhai S Nanavati leads the institute with youthful, dynamic and zealous leadership and motivates our students for their overall development.

The Commerce College is affiliated to Gujarat University and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘B’ Grade. C. U. Shah Commerce College is also recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India.

The motto of C. U. Shah Commerce College is to provide educational facilities to students who need economic, academic and moral support. The College has Students Own Fund (SOF) scheme operative and functional for the last 25 years.

Under this scheme every year total textbook sets are provided to financially needy students. This scheme comes quite handy and useful to those students who themselves cannot afford to buy all the books prescribed on syllabi.

The College is centrally situated on the Ashram Road which is the heart-throb of Ahmedabad.

The College can boast of their surrounding as it has famous reputed institutes like Gujarat Vidyapeeth, the old Gujarat High Court, the All India Radio Station, the Income Tax office, the Statue of Gandhiji and many important business houses in their neighborhood. Such a location of the college gives students easy access to reach C. U. Shah Commerce College from almost all parts of the city.

The College has an adequate campus with a stage for gathering, separate NCC, NSS and CWDC office and parking facility.

The campus has two buildings as our trust runs C.U.Shah Science College and C.U.Shah Science Higher Secondary School apart from C. U. Shah Commerce College.
