Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT), Thiruvananthapuram is an autonomous organization established in 1988 by the Government of Kerala for the advancement of research, development, and training in imaging technology with an implied role in socially relevant science & development communication.

Shri P. Govinda Pillai was the founder Director of the Centre. C-DIT is currently housed in a 3-acre Campus in the picturesque Chithranjali Hills, beside the Kerala State Film Development Corporation Campus, 7 km's from Thiruvananthapuram City, on the way to Kovalam. It also has a city office in Thiruvananthapuram. The 3 regional centres of C-DIT are functioning in Kayamkulam, Ernakulam, and Kannur.

The uniqueness of C-DIT comes from the rare combination of its human resources - a co-existence of the talented pool of creative personnel with the technological workforce.

In its 19 years of existence, C-DIT has successfully completed many prestigious projects of the Government of Kerala. Over the years C-DIT has evolved into a centre of convergence. Currently, the organization is in a position to offer a plethora of services covering a wide range of information appliances and deploying all conceivable media formats.

Education in Media and Communication has been one of the core activities of C-DIT since 1996. C-DIT started with the one year P.G. Diploma programme in Science and Development Communication in the year 1996. Now Communication Courses Division- CCD @C-DIT is offering 14 long and short-term courses, which includes PG Diploma (One Year) Diploma (6 Months) and Certificate (3 Months) courses.

Besides PG-DSDC, CCD currently offers P.G Diploma in TV & New media Journalism, TV Production management & Marketing. We also conduct Diploma courses in Digital Media Production, Diploma in Print and Publishing Media, Diploma in Web Designing & Development and Certificate courses in Digital Still Photography, Non-Linear Editing, Videography etc. C-DIT also conducts short-term training programmes for other institutions, universities, colleges etc.

CCD has a well-experienced team of professionals working as faculty members for handling classes.

Eminent personalities from the film and video production field, Engineering Colleges, Universities and other related areas are handling classes as guest faculties.

C-DIT understands the necessity of extending the technology to tap the vast human resource of the State and help them translate their potential to bring about larger benefits for the State.

The Technology Extension Division provides avenues to meet this requirement of the young populace in the State. Offering a rich gamut of courses through the C-DIT Educational Partners (CEPs) spread across all the districts is one of the major functional areas of this team.

With the CEPs numbering about 480, CDIT holds the record of having the largest number of educational partners under any similar Government institution in the State. Apart from conducting and administering as many as 18 IT courses, the Team prepares quality course material required thereof.

Industrial Automation and Network engineering courses are the new areas, which are offered through the Resolute Education Campus equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The TED is also entrusted with the corporate training ventures for specific target groups with financial assistance from Govt. of India and other State Govt. departments. The Job portal under TED facilitates for the easy access of the job opportunities in the IT Sector.
