Baring Union Christian College, Batala (Dist. Gurdaspur) was church related college established on 29th June 1944 and managed by Baring Union Christian College Association (BUCCA).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is a co-educational private college, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of a Gurdaspur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. The aim of the college was spreading the benefits of education to women, synchronizing tradition with modernity.

The trust had the cooperating bodies that had been combined of The Church of North India, Methodist Church in India, The Presbyterian Church of Canada, The Presbyterian Church in U.S.A.

Along with its three sister institutions (Christian Institute for Religious Studies, Baring Collegiate Senior Secondary School and Baring School), the college is also administered by Baring Union Christian College Association (BUCCA)

On 1st April 1878, The founder of the Trust Rev Henry Francis has started a form of a school known as Baring Boys Boarding School in the palace of Late Maharaja Sher Singh, called the Anarkali and beginnings the courses were made for the establishment of western education.

The period of 1934 to 1948 is one of transition in the development of Baring High School to Baring Union Christian College. Further, the college was upgrading the Baring High School to an intermediate college

The college has receives many awards and prizes annually recognize in the field of the excellent performers in Sports, Culture, and Academics. Every year 100s of students are honored for their outstanding performance in Sports, Culture, and Academics.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) streams with various specializations under Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts and Science streams with various specializations to the students. It offers diploma and self-financed courses as well.

The college has also started distance education mode to higher education to all those disadvantaged people who cannot join the formal streams which were the open access center of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
