Baselios Poulose II Catholicos College, Piravom (Dist. Ernakulam) was also known as BPC College Piravom was established on 1st December 1995 by the Malankara Syrian Jacobite Christian Education Trust, a nonprofitable organization of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the realm of education.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The campus is located in the Baselios mount in Piravom village, 4 km away from Piravom town in Ernakulam District. The idyllic location privileges the campus with a refreshing rural ambiance.

The college is affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on  26th June 2004 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.14 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 23rd March 2013.

The short history of the College has been a history of growth. Within fifteen years, it has matured into a premier educational institution. The College is named after His Beatitude Baselios Poulose II, the Catholicos of the East for twenty-one years, who was known for his profound scholarship, social concerns and commitment to reform.

It is a co-education religious minority college, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in a rural part of a Piravom played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The courses were officially inaugurated on 11th December 1995 by Shri. T.M. Jacob, the then Hon’ble Minister in the presence of H.B. Baselios Poulose II, the founder-manager.

The B.B.A. class began on the same day with 53 students, and the classes for B.C.A.

with 48 students and B.Sc. Electronics with 34 students commenced on 18 December 1995.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

At present, the college offers four undergraduate programmes in frontier areas in Arts, Business Administration, Science, and Technology viz. B.A. English with Journalism, B.C.A., B.B.A., and B.Sc. Electronic with Computer Hardware, and two post graduate programmes M.Sc. Electronics and M.Sc. Computer Science – in the unaided stream. It also offers Career Oriented Add-On Certificate courses.
