Bijni College, Chirang (BTAD), Assam was established on 21st July, 1969 and it was accorded the status of Defict Grants-in-Aid in 1975, by the Govt. of Assam.

The college was established with the inexhaustible enthusiasm, tireless efforts, dedicated service and sacrifices of various people from Bijni Town and its surrounding areas.

The college is most ideally situated in a salubrious environment on the bank of the river Dulani. It has a sprawling and environment-friendly campus with various educational institutions around it to form an exclusive educational zone.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognised by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The college has its own play-grounds, fishries and social forestry to create an idyllic atmosphere.

The college began its regular function only from the academic session of 1970-71 after it was accorded the necessary permission by the Gauhati University.

The college offers three years Degree courses and also offers two years Higher Secondary courses in Arts and Science Streams. It also offers the courses in distance education mode under Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati.

Rules and Regulations at Bijni College, Chirang:

Great emphasis is laid on discipline and character building and students are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline and decorum.

• Students must abide by the rules and regulations as prescribed by the college authority. Violation of rules, irregular attendance, irregular clearance of college fees, showing disrespect to the teachers and staff members of the college in any form adoption of unfair means during examination, delinquent behaviour in the college campus may invite disciplinary actions like termination of scholarship, forced transfer and even expulsion from the college
• All forms of ragging in the college campus are strictly prohibited.

  Strong disciplinary action will be taken against it if one is found to be involved directly or indirectly in ragging

• Students are expected to mai9ntain cleanliness in the campus and not to damage any college property. Any such damage will invite monetary fine or / and disciplinary action
• Any notice desired to be pasted or circulated by the students on the notice board or anywhere in the college shall require prior permission of the college authority
• All power of maintenance of discipline are vested with the Head of the institution and his/her decision shall be final in all such matters
• Students with attendance of less than 75% of the classes held will not be eligible to appear in any examination
• Use of Mobile Phone is strictly prohibited inside the college campus
• Every bonafide student of the college is issued with a photo-identity card. It is non-transferable and should be renewed in every session. It must be carried by the students and produced whenever necessary
• A duplicate identity card may be issued, in case of loss, after proper verification
• The Bijni College Students Union is the General Body of the students of the college. Its membership is compulsory for every student. Office bearers of it are elected every year. It functions according to its constitution
• The College has a dress code for students. It is compulsory
