About Bihpuria College

Bihpuria College, Bihpuria was established on 1st August, 1973 and the college was brought under Deficit Grant-in-Aid system in the year 1985.

The college is located at a distance of three kilometers from the historic shrine of Netai Dhubani Ghat, Gurdwara and Panchpeer Dargah providing a healthy and congenial atmosphere of teaching and learning.

Catering about 1000 students each year Bihpuria College imparts education at Under Graduate level in both Arts and Commerce stream and stand as a premier seat of learning.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of the UGC Act 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "C" Grade.

The College has been recognized as a centre for Distance education learning under Dibrugarh University and a good number of courses are displayed for study.

Attuning itself to the changing needs and emerging priorities of society, the college also provides vocational and community development programs.

It achieves a high academic distinction and gets a niche for the brilliant Results of T. D. C, Final Examination conducted by Dibrugarh University to which the college is affiliated.

Bihpuria College Magazine is published each year. lt is designed to enrich and explore students' talent in various fields of literature, Socio-cultural affair, environment, religion and politics, science and technology, economy, trade and Commerce, current affairs and craft etc. From last academic session, the Govt, of Assam has allotted one lakh rupees for the publication of the magazine. Apart from this, each department publishes 'Wall Magazine', which provides ample platform to exhibit their talent. Further, college publishes 'News-letter' in every year.

Since Higher education is multi-dimensional and multi -tasking, the college has opted for some career oriented programmes. They are:

Rules & Regulations at Bihpuria College, Bihpuria:

  • For admission in to Higher Secondary 1styear (Arts & Commerce) the students must have passed HSLC examination conducted by SEBA or examinations conducted by CBSE with a minimum of 50% of marks for the students of General category and 45% of marks for the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC / MOB
  • For admission in to Three years undergraduate courses (Six semester) a student must have passed Higher Secondary Examinations conducted by AHSEC or CBSE with a 45% of marks
  • Candidated seeking admission to any Higher Secondary and Three years undergraduate courses at Bihpuria COllege during academic sessionss may obtain the prescribed Application form along with prospectus from the college office of Bihpuria College on cash payment of Rs.

  • Students must be regular in their respective classes. They must have at least 80% of attendance in their respective classes for all the programmes. Else, they will be debarred from appearing in their examinations
  • The students must wear the prescribed Uniform during the college hours
  • To maintain discipline and academic atmosphere in the college the following measures are executed in words and spirit
  • Disciplinary actions are taken against students who violate wearing uniform in all college affairs, i.e. during college classes, examinations and festivals
  • The use of mobile phone in the college premise is strictly prohibited during the class hours. Students would be punishable, if caught violating such rule
  • All the students are to receive their college identity cards at the time of admission. Without the identity card, no students will be allowed to enter the college and attend classes
  • All Tobacco products are strictly banned inside the college campus
  • The college has well-equipped with spacious classrooms & all modern facilities, required for the students to study here
  • The college has its own canteen inside the campus for the benefit of the students, teachers and employees. lt offers refreshments at reasonable prices
  • ln a novel way, Bihpuria college has adopted an insurance scheme for students' safety. The scheme will cover any kind of accidental claims while they are in college. The premium for the scheme is nominal, which is a sum of Rs.25/-  (Rupees Twenty five only) per annum subject to the number of the students of the college The insurance scheme is expected to serve an extra steptowards making the students feel more secure than ever, when they are in college
  • Bihpuria college has both outdoor and lndoor games facilities. lt has got a large playground, which is well-equipped for conducting all outdoor events. An lndoor stadium is under construction in full swing, putting a ll inf rastructures a nd facilities for any types of  lndoor Games events
  • Scouts and Guides is another important wing of the college. lt helps to bring discipline, a feeling of brotherhood, nationalism and patriotism amongst the students. Further, it helps to get a way for vocation having completion of the course successfully. Students can  opt forScouts and Gurdes duringtheircourse of study in the college
  • Computer center of Bihpuria College is imparting certificate, Diploma and Advanced corrrses in computer Education. rt has got a separate technicaily advanced raboratory. The center not herps students but a rso is of m uch herp for the members of the institution. It welcomes ail the members of the society. coilege has been centrally computerized with internet facility
  • A distinguished feature of this college is the facility and accommodation for remedial coaching for students belonging to weaker sections
  • Three studies centel namely Gandhian Studies centre, Buddha Studies Center and Dr. Ambedkar studies centre are another addition at Bihpuria College that extends the dimension, scope of Formal education and research
  • Preference is given to the best performers in Games and Sports and Co-curricular activities in the District, State and National level.
  • For the cognitive development, the students have got their charter that features in the following points
  • The college has good two stored library. It is open from 9 am to 5pm during working days. The library has more than 13000 (thirteen thousand) books. And in addition to that there are 4(Four) no of daily Newspapers, 2(two) no of Magazines, 3 (Three) no of national level journals and 3 (Three) no of International level journals regularly subscribed in the library. the reading room accommodates about 100 students
  • Students can access and borrow books from the library. The library welcomes all students to be a regular visitor
  • The college is providing hostel accommodation for both Boys and Girls within the college campus. With UGC's financial assistance (lX-Plan) the college has built two stories building for women. The admission to hostel is exclusively on merit. However, there is provision for reservation and special reservation for the Students coming from distant places, remote areas as well
  • College also facilitates/arranges scholarships rendered by by the Government to students belonging to SC /ST /OBC / MOBC
  • Apart from this, the college also award merit scholarship
  • They have the right to take part in the general election of students' union to elect representatives
  • Students have the right to evaluate teaching-learning situation of the institutionc, through proper procedure. The college provides necessary formats supplied by the IQAC
  • Students of the institution may undertake educational tours and excursions in vacations. But it is subject to the prior approval of the concerned head of the departments of the concerned subjects and also authority of the institution
  • Students, who have proficiency and expertise in any field, may take in festivals and inter-college competitions and in youth festival of the University as a team.

  • Students have the right to lodge complain and put up grievance through student's Grievance Cell relating to their educationa administrationa and institutional problems in black and white
