Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bhilai was established on 15th September 1978. It is one of the premier institutions to impart & provide a platform in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the path of progress.

The college is affiliated to Durg University, Durg as per mentioned in the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) report, established in the year 2013. But formerly the college is affiliated to  Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur.

The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) Act, 1956 on 2nd August 1986 and the college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade in the year 2015.

Over the span of almost 35 years the college has grown to meet the challenges of time with courses in diversified fields, along with various career oriented programmes being incorporated from time to time as per the need of the day to give the girl students not only better education but also employment opportunities, right here in their own hometown.

The institution has paved a name for itself not only in academics as seen in every year’s university merit list but also its achievements in various curricular and co-curricular fields producing distinguished alumni in the sphere of art and culture as well.

The students are given an opportunity to realize their creative potential and at the same time care is taken for an academic growth through various activities. The college offers three years Degree Courses in Science & Commerce stream and also offers some BE.d Course, PG Courses, Career Oriented Courses & Add-On Courses.
