Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's, Bhavan's College, Mumbai was popularly known as Bhavan's College was established in 1946 by Kulapati Munshiji under the management of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

It is one of the premier, colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.
 
The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) in September 1972 under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.02 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 1st May 2015.

The college is built on 45 acres (180,000 m2) of land and has huge volleyball and basketball courts, as well as football pitches, a botanical garden, and an adventure park.

The college is co-educational institutions, providing regular courses located in urban Mumbai. Apart from this, the campus is located in another city also as a different name of institutions.

The college assessment was based on following seven criteria: Curricular Aspects; Teaching-learning and Evaluation; Research, Consultancy and Extension Activities; Infrastructure and Learning Resources; Students Support and Progression; Organization and Management; and Healthy Practices.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Diploma and Doctorate (Ph.D.) program for the students. The College has a fine team of qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and staff members.

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students in its various departments.

The college has well equipped, airy and spacious class rooms with all modern facilities.
 
The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.
