Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Dr. Patangrao Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli was established on 16th September 1985 as Arts, Science and Commerce College and later it was renamed as Dr. Patangrao Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli on 8th January 1999 and managed by Bharati Vidyapeeth.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with the Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 1997 and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956.
 
It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.14 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 5th January 2013.

This is the only college in the city, which imparts education in all the four facilities - Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Science. The college has been selected as a “Lead College” by Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 2005-06.

The aim of the college is inculcating gender equality, social awareness, scientific temperament, cleanliness, awareness about environmental issues.

The college has committed itself to provide quality education to all state and becoming the center of excellence in the process of facilitating effective teaching and learning with several career-oriented traditional and specialty programs.

It is co-educational private institute, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of Sangli played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Computer streams with optional specializations and two offers two years postgraduate course in M.Sc in Analytical Chemistry under the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

It also offers Add-On Certificate courses.

The institution has given priority to teaching and learning process. It has created a better teaching and learning environment in the campus through improved infrastructural and human resources.
